IGCAR has moved a step closer to turning nuclear research into business-ready products by signing incubation and technology transfer deals with deep-tech startups and industries. The latest agreements cover space electronics, quantum materials, and advanced manufacturing, showing how lab work at Kalpakkam is being pushed into the market.
The event was organised by the Atal Incubation Centre at IGCAR, also known as AIC FAST, under the theme “Translation of IGCAR Technologies: From Lab to Land…and to Space”. One major agreement was signed with Chennai-based startup Big Bang Boom Solutions to develop radiation-hardening strategies for GPU-based computing in space environments. This is important because satellites and space missions need electronics that can survive harsh radiation.
Another key deal transferred IGCAR’s lithium niobate crystal growth technology to Hosur-based Raana Semiconductors Pvt Ltd. Lithium niobate is a strategic material used in photonics and quantum devices and is linked to the National Quantum Mission. IGCAR also licensed its patented deep-penetrating flux formulation for TIG welding to Chennai-based X10T.
