Zoho-Backed Kerala Startup Netrasemi Launches Its First AI Chip

by admin

Kerala-based semiconductor startup Netrasemi has launched its first AI chip, the A2000 Edge AI System-on-Chip (SoC), marking a major milestone for India’s deep-tech hardware ecosystem. The company, backed by Zoho Corporation, successfully completed silicon bring-up and declared the chip production-ready for edge devices.

The A2000 is built on TSMC’s 12nm advanced process node and delivers high-TOPS AI performance for computer vision, real-time video analytics, and smart vision applications. The chip features Netrasemi’s in-house Neural Processing Unit (NPU), Vision cores (VPU), Image Signal Processor (ISP), Crypto-Engines, and patented Heterogeneous graph-stream parallel processing architecture.

Netrasemi raised ₹107 crore (approximately $13 million) in Series A funding from Zoho Corporation and Unicorn India Ventures in July 2025 to accelerate R&D and manufacturing. Founded in 2020 by Jyothis Indirabhai, Sreejith Varma, and Deepa Geetha, the company now serves as one of India’s pioneering AI chip designers.

The A2000 targets smart cameras, edge AI boxes, and intelligent video gateways used in surveillance, robotics, and smart infrastructure. Netrasemi is currently running early customer trials with three clients in the surveillance and automotive sectors, with commercial launch targeted for mid-2027. Volume production at TSMC’s Taiwan facility is scheduled for 2027.
