Aarti Industries has commissioned Phase I of its Zone IV project at Jhagadia in Gujarat. The facility went live on 7 September 2026 and marks a key step in the company’s plan to expand specialty chemicals capacity and deepen downstream integration.
Phase I brings three main units on stream: a Calcium Chloride plant, a PEDA (2-Phenyl Ethyl Diethyl Aniline) unit, and part of a new Multipurpose Plant (MPP). PEDA extends Aarti’s existing ethylation platform and is aimed at value-added agrochemical applications, building on its 2,6-Diethyl Aniline capabilities. The Calcium Chloride unit strengthens the company’s Energy & Additives portfolio, with uses in oilfield and energy-related markets.
The Multipurpose Plant is designed as a flexible manufacturing platform. It will help scale up pilot-validated processes into commercial production and allow faster response to customer needs across different chemistries. Together, these units will support products for agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, coatings, polymers, and energy and additives segments.
Company leadership has described Zone IV as a strategic platform to add niche, high-value products, several of which are expected to be manufactured in India for the first time. Aarti Industries plans to progressively commission all manufacturing blocks within Zone IV during the current fiscal year.
The move underlines Aarti’s long-term specialty chemicals growth strategy, integrating R&D, scale-up and manufacturing at one site. With Phase I now operational, the company is better positioned to capture demand from both domestic and global markets while reducing dependence on imports for certain intermediates.
