Gujarat is seeking major investments from global technology companies in semiconductors, artificial intelligence and data centres. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held discussions with Micron, Google, Perplexity AI and The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) during his US visit. The meetings were organised ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2027. The state government is promoting Gujarat as a growing hub for advanced manufacturing, digital infrastructure, AI applications and technology-based skill development.
During his meeting with Micron Chairman and CEO Sanjay Mehrotra, Patel highlighted the company’s semiconductor facility at Sanand. The Gujarat government approved 20 acres of land for the facility within a day, supporting Micron’s plans to begin commercial production at the earliest.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Micron’s Sanand facility in February 2026. Gujarat is also developing Dholera as another important semiconductor hub. Together, Sanand and Dholera are expected to strengthen the state’s position in India’s semiconductor ecosystem.
At Google, discussions focused on AI training for students, teachers and young people. The company also showed interest in using AI for agriculture by analysing crop patterns, soil conditions and climate data. Google Workspace Sovereign AI was discussed as a possible tool to improve data security.
Patel also met Perplexity AI CEO Aravind Srinivas. The discussions explored establishing the company’s engineering and research and development operations in Gujarat. A data centre or a hybrid facility involving a private developer and Perplexity AI was also considered. TiE members discussed cooperation in healthcare, healthcare-worker training and youth skilling. These partnerships could help Gujarat create jobs, improve digital skills and expand the use of AI in education, farming and healthcare.
